Starts November 4 – YPLAA Personal/Professional Development Institute

Join YPLAA and Kurk Lalemand for a Personal and Professional Development Series to help grow yourself for your present and your future.

The series will be held in the Chamber Conference Room from 8:30-10:30am. The 6 week series will cost $79.

Wednesday, November 4 – Introduction: Explore the breadth of personal development and how do you make it happen. Examine the futility of training and the need for coaching, peer coaching, mentoring or a personal accountability system. Learn how personal growth distinguishes you from the pack.

Wednesday, November 11 – Asking for What you Want: Have you ever asked for something to be done and gotten either a poor performance or something different from what you intended? Making a clear request is easy when everyone is on the same page but a true challenge when things are moving rapidly, when there is stress in the environment or when there are employees with different goals. Learn how to make a request for action that is unmistakable. Learn how to ask for a correction of poor performance. Learn how to get what you want with straight forward language and integrity.

Wednesday, November 18 – Running a Meeting: Have you ever been in a meeting that was a waste of time? Perhaps the meeting ended late, (started late), covered topics not on the agenda (assuming there was an agenda), was dominated by one person and left everyone feeling frustrated and discouraged. Learn ten actions you can take to run a meeting that is none of those things and is actually a productive work session.

Thursday, December 3 – How to Make a Good Second Impression: You’ve made a good first impression – you’ve been given more responsibility – now what? Learn how to frame your situation from a perspective that ensure your attitude is positive, focused and energized. Stay in integrity and get the job done – all with a light heart and firm will.

Wednesday, December 9 – Time Management: Your most valuable resource in business is time. Almost everything else is malleable – not time. Come learn how to use planning, calendars, organizers and functional “to do” lists. Get where you need to be, plan for a productive meeting, project or year by learning the secret – “Successful business people plan their lives one week at a time”

Wednesday, December 16 – Giving and Receiving Feedback: Feedback can be helpful or unhelpful. By using a few simple rules and a couple of communication scripts, you can provide feedback to anyone in the organization that gets you what you want. By learning to listen to feedback you can improve your own performance and improve your standing with your peers as someone who “listens”.

To register CLICK HERE or call Jenny at the Chamber at 783-2249. Registration deadline is Wednesday, October 28th.
