Seminar – Four Generations at Work

September 18, 12-1pm at The Chamber.

Supervisors are scratching their heads wondering about the ???work ethic??? of their younger employees. They question their motivation, dependability and loyalty. All the while, the under-30 employees wonder why companies are so set in their ways and can???t be more flexible or lighten up a bit ??? after all, it???s just a job. Baby Boomers have dominated the workforce for years and have had the numbers in their favor. As they retire at record rates, companies are seriously considering the impact, and what their organization will look like in the future.

Four Generations at Work is an interactive presentation that sheds light on the defining events and circumstances that formed each generation, and what that means when it comes to work ethic. You???ll walk away with a better understanding and appreciation of each generation, as well as insight on what forward-looking companies are doing to entice, attract, motivate and retain members from each group.

April Clark, Vice President/Regional Director for Manpower, is a 21-year veteran of the staffing industry, and is a baby boomer by age and by ethic. She has, however, come to appreciate all generations by being involved – for many years – in the changing landscape of the workforce. April’s presentation will help demystify the unique aspects of each generation, and help participants work toward blending four (very different) generations together, so that everyone can win at work.

April holds a BA from the University of Maine, and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. She belongs to the Society for Human Resource Management, the Human Resources Association of Southern Maine, the Central Maine Human Resources Association, and the American Society for Training and Development. April currently serves on the Central Maine Workforce Investment Board, the Diversity Hiring Coalition of Maine, and is Chair of the Central Maine Workforce Youth Council.
